More Christmas Highlights

So it happens to be the middle of January, but I do want to record some of our favorite holiday memories.

Scott took JCG out to play in the snow, and he loved it, all bundled up. He loved "wrestling" with Uncle Scott and they came up with their own little game with his trucks, sound effects and all.

Aunt Karla, J & I went to his first movie together, "The Princess and the Frog." We had very low expectations going into it. We didn't know if he'd be afraid in the dark, if he'd be restless after 10 minutes, if the movie would be boring or scary, etc. Well, we got there, his eyes were as big as saucers, he noticed other people had popcorn and drinks, so he asked for them right away. I came back with a tub (literally) of popcorn, he sat on Karla's lap and watched the entire movie?! I think the popcorn was the trick. It will be one of my most precious memories of this Christmas, he got to watch his first memory on Karla's lap and I think they both had a great time.

Almost every day we settled into a similar routine. Mommy & Karla took turns on the treadmill in the basement while the other hung out with JCG, we went to the mall to play in the kids area (gotta get the wiggles out), had lunch at the mall, then nap, then some kind of outing in the evening. We drove around and looked at Christmas lights, got to play with cousin Ethan who JCG absolutely adored, got to see some of Karla's friends. After JCG would go to bed, we'd watch a movie, kick back, and relax. Heaven.

The best thing on a sister level about the trip was that Karla and Scott became officially engaged! What a blast. Scott was gracious to stay with JCG so Karla & I could go ring shopping several times. Too much fun. I was really grateful to be in on the whole thing, and we actually found the one that rests on her finger now!

It was just a very laid-back, pleasant holiday. Many moments I won't soon forget. Hopefully never.
