That's My J !

Joaquin is really coming along with the alphabet, he recognizes and names all the letters, and we're starting to introduce the concept that the sounds actually work together to make words. When he sees a J letter anywhere, he shouts, "That's my J!" So we fell into calling him "J" over the holidays, and I think it's going to be the nickname that sticks. We may even call him J or Jay when he starts kindergarten. He just loves the association that the letter belongs to him.

Writing, not so much. He doesn't seem to be in the mood yet. Although his preschool teacher, Ms. Margaret, started a "sign-up" sheet every morning for their names, and he likes the idea. So maybe he'll start to become more interested in writing soon. She is the best teacher, always doing something new with the kids. They are starting to "read," meaning we have a little keyring with his name and some of his favorite words on it so he is reinforced that all those letters go together to make something he's already interested in. Cool.
