Mars Needs Moms

JCG made a new friend, Ann (neighbor across the street from Tia Maryann in Liberty), who has been following the blog and fell in love with him. She brought him a gift of tie-dyed T-shirts (totally cool) and a book (title above) by Berkely Breathed. We sat down to read the book, very amusing illustrations, all about a little boy who is tired of his mom and wishes she'd disappear. As the plot unfolds, aliens need more moms on Mars so the boy volunteers that the aliens can take his mom, he's through with her! She makes him eat vegetables, for example! They end up traveling to Mars, and the humans realize there aren't enough oxygen masks to go around. There isn't one for the boy. His mom gladly takes off hers and says, "I'll love you to the ends of the universe." I just wept. This is how I feel about my son. I'd give him my oxygen in a heartbeat. This parental love thing just knocks me over, time and time again. Thank you Ann, for such a beautiful gift.
