Christmas Eve 2010

Jay is snuggled in his bed, dreaming of Santa. He just figured out the concept of Santa within the past week. I am so tickled! He is asking Santa for a lunchbox, his first request. If it will be this easy every year I am set! I have an unsettling feeling that it will not remain this simple.

We are starting traditions this year. We cut out strips of cardboard paper and glued them together to make a chain link, one for each of the 27 days leading up to Christmas. Every night he counted out the number of links left and ripped one from the chain, proudly carrying it to the waste bin.

I made cinnamon rolls and we made cut-out sugar cookies (twice) with different groups of friends, tonight was a delicious meatball soup and Russian Tea cakes. He loves the Christmas tree and made many of the ornaments himself the past two years. He loves the job of turning on and off the lights on the tree.

Our life is peaceful and happy. I am so grateful for good health for the both of us this year. I'm figuring out the seasonal asthma and learning how to medicate better when he has a respiratory thing going on.

I love this child beyond description. Yesterday and today he got to go play at "Dragon Stars," which is basically a childcare service available through his school during the holiday break. I ran around finishing up shopping, went to the gym, began the baking, made a holiday slideshow to send to friends, and ordered photo prints for gifts. I missed him! This was my Mommy Christmas Day, and still I couldn't wait to pick him up. Now we have nine days together for the holidays, can't wait.
