Surgery Follow-Up Appt

We got to meet with Dr. Singhal on Friday, Jan. 16th. Everything looks good with his healing so far! Good news for me was that JCG weighed 26 lbs, 14 oz the day of the surgery, and 10 days later he weighed 26 lbs, 10 oz, a loss of only 4 oz! Great news for us as he lived solely on liquids the first seven days. He doesn't have to wear his arm brace anymore, and only 7 more days of his soft food diet. JCG cried when I told him he didn't need to wear the arm brace anymore...he is definitely a creature of habit.

Yesterday JCG said "coat on" - his first 2-word sentence AND he pronounced the "c" sound clearly!!

This weekend we are catching up on rest, JCG is eating like a horse, we visited the Vacek-Young clan, Ann & Co and Allison & Co and our Co got together for friday night pizza, Uncle Paul came over for some chili, and we went to Union Station/Crown Center with Allison and Stella. The station has a great miniature train exhibit that JCG loved. We also ate lunch at Fritz's, a restaurant just for kids that has a train theme - your food is delivered via the train tracks, kids get conductor hats to wear, etc. He just loved it!

I'm glad for the long weekend, it's been a long two weeks and the rest is doing us some good. I'm starting to plan a childcare co-op with Ann & Allison, which is fun. I haven't used any babysitters yet with JCG and my intuition is telling me it is time to go ahead and start. We've made it through the first 4 months, his first surgery, etc. and he is transitioning really well. Mom is looking forward to making some time for myself shortly.
